Inspired by her observation of shadows reflected on the ground, the artist spent many months experimenting with a method that allows objects to be represented in two dimensions on canvas. More like the image has been transformed to the artist's own image which is based its interpretation from the artist. This is especially effective when working with living things or items that are perishable like fruits and people. The transient nature of her art style is apparent and what survives of Alexa Meade's art is a photographic image. Both the painting and photographic methods are tightly interwoven that the end result is nothing but a two-dimensional flat space that achieves trompe l'oeil. The third dimension can only be seen in specific areas, such as near the eyes or in hair. Meade often integrates her paintings in the 3D world that surrounds her. They are able to interact with the world she has created for herself. The lines between performance, photography, and installation is thus broken.
